Do you teach adults? My sewing machine is collecting dust in the box and I'm not sure how to turn it on! We sure do. This option is for the beginner to intermediate wanting to learn some new skills. Please note we are currently offering private sewing to females only at this time. We are happy to accommodate men/boys in our group options. Thank you for understanding.
Sewing is such a fun past time of mine. But, I get how daunting it can be! This lesson option includes a sewing journal (believe me I use mine all the time) and use of our basic supplies. We are here to help you! Have some goals in mind? Let us know or choose from some of our project options.
I'm Dannelle, a homeschool mom of three. I have been sewing for 20 years. My background is in education, children's ministry and social work. I like to combine my love for creativity with my passion for teaching. I began teaching my children to sew when they were four years old. Their excitement and eagerness was contagious. Soon I began teaching my friends children and we've grown from there. I love the countless options fabric provides us to be creative!
Mentoring has been a huge part of my sewing journey so I want to be that person for you.
I will incorporate different skills into each lesson to help you progress to the next level. I will be with you through every step of the process!
Monthly Lessons Include:
- Four 2 Hour Onsite instruction lessons (12 lessons total over 3 months or 24 hours cooridnated by your schedule- if we can work in longer sessions lets do it!)
- Use of our machines, sewing supplies and patterns during your weekly lessons
- Adult Sized Sewing Journal
- Additional at home supply list will be given first day of lessons
*Larger projects may require additional fabric/notions at your expense. We will provide the basics.
How do your lessons work?
Lessons are taught in my home studio in Lewiston, New York unless pre- arranged prior to lessons starting.
The first part of each lesson provides you with an opportunity to learn a new sewing skill, term or technique. You are encouraged to utilize your sewing journals during this time. The last part of the lesson will be working on whatever project you have chosen. Our lessons are designed to go at your pace. Projects may be taken home each week, but are not required.
I am available every Thursday via text/video message for any questions/ help you may need. I know how absolutely frustrating it can be getting stuck and then you give up! I don't want you to give up :)
I see two options?
I offer hourly help at $50 an hour. Maybe you are mid project and just need help finishing it. Or you got a snag in an item you want help fixing. I will help you. Please message prior with your project. This option is NOT for me to do alterations/ tailoring but rather help you :)
The second option is our 3 month or 24 hour plan.
Brand new to sewing? Let us save you the grief of shopping for the basics with our startup kit. Our start up kits have everything you need except the sewing machine! Start up kits include: Fabric, Scissors, Pins, Measuring Tape, Cutting Mat, Wonder Clips, Thread, Buttons and more! $80.00
*Don't have a machine? WAIT before you buy. You are welcome to use some of mine and get a feel for what makes you comfortable before investing in something! I have tips I've learned over the years in this process I'll pass onto you*
