Our monthly lessons are a great option for the indecisive child! Why you may ask? Because they determine the lesson. We offer a variety of project options at every possible sewing level. Our lessons are geared towards boys and girls. Perfect for beginners, siblings and homeschool groups/scouts.
I'm Dannelle, a homeschool mom of three. I have been sewing for 20 years. My background is in education, children's ministry and social work. I like to combine my love for creativity with my passion for teaching. I began teaching my children to sew when they were four years old. Their excitement and eagerness was contagious. Soon I began teaching my friends children and we've grown from there. I love the countless options fabric provides us to be creative!
My desire is to help your child build confidence, expand their creativity and gain enough skills so they feel comfortable tackling whatever sewing project they dream up next! Mentoring has been a huge part of my sewing journey so I want to be that person for someone else.
I will incorporate different skills into each lesson to help them progress to the next level. Options are broken up into skill level so children can progress at their own rate through each project. I will be with them through every step of the process!
Monthly Lessons Include:
- 4 weekly 2 hour onsite instruction lessons (coordinated by your schedule) only $20 an hour!
- Use of our machines, sewing supplies, basic patterns during their weekly lessons for onsite students
- Sewing Journal (if your child has one from a previous class please bring that we will add to it)
*Fabric and any additional patterns they may want to try will need to be purchased prior to class.
*Please note this option is for local students only. Zoom options are available, but students must have their own machine ready to go each week for lessons.
How do your lessons work?
Lessons are taught in my home studio in Lewiston, New York unless pre- arranged prior to lessons (scout/homeschool co-op group lessons additional fee for driving/time)
The first part of each lesson provides children with an opportunity to learn a new sewing skill, term or technique. Kids are encouraged to utilize their sewing journals during this time. The last part of the lesson will be working on whatever project they have chosen. Our lessons are designed to go at your child's pace. Projects may be taken home each week, but are not required. We will give weekly homework to help children continue in their skills with chances to earn special sewing notions and gifts to add to their sewing stash.
We are available every Thursday via text/video message for any questions/ help your child may need during their homework practice :).
Hourly lessons can be scheduled at your convenience for those parents needing flexibility.
